Yin Yoga is a quiet, meditative practice of longer-held passive poses that enhance and renew the body's vital energy, ease joint-rigidity, immobility, and nourish the body at the whole level. Yin aids with digestion, muscle repair, organ detoxification and emotional processing. The gentle, supported postures allow the connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, joints, and fascia) to strengthen, and with a consistent practice over 6 weeks, you will notice postural improvement, increased ease of movement and overall balance of mind & body. Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique in which you learn to relax consciously. It is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. The term yoga nidra is derived from two Sanskrit words, yoga meaning union or one-pointed awareness, and nidra which means sleep. During the practice of yoga nidra, you appear to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. For this reason, yoga nidra is often referred to as psychic sleep or deep relaxation with inner awareness. In this threshold state between sleep and wakefulness, contact with the subconscious and unconscious dimensions occurs spontaneously. In yoga nidra, the state of relaxation is reached by turning inwards, away from outer experiences. If the consciousness can be separated from external awareness and from sleep, it becomes very powerful and can be applied in many ways, for example, to develop the memory, increase knowledge and creativity. Sessions are also accompanied by the beautiful and healing sounds of Himalayan Singing Bowls and Koshi Chimes which further enhance your relaxation and healing experience. Alex has an MSc in Mental Health and Psychological Therapies and is a certified facilitator of Trauma Center, Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TC TSY). TC TSY is a relational yoga practice for survivors of complex trauma. Complex trauma can result from early life trauma, prolonged neglect, abuse or violence, or interpersonal harm in relationships with uneven power dynamics. Survivors typically find that their ability to feel their bodies, their emotions, and their sense of self can become degraded over time, as a result of a natural, adaptive process called dissociation. TC TSY offers a pathway back to feeling and is now a recognised as an evidence-based intervention for Complex PTSD by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (USA). Jaime was first introduced to yoga in 2012 as a form of work-life balance in modern day's hustle culture. Soon after, Jaime discovered yoga's special ability to connect the mind to the body and has been hooked ever since!
